Pujara changed his batting style after not getting a chance in IPL, said this: India’s Test specialist batsman Cheteshwar Pujara’s debut in county cricket was nothing less than a dream come true. He scored 624 runs in 9 matches in the Royal London ODI Cup for Sussex but Pujara cites the incident that inspired him to perform brilliantly.

He recalled the incident of Chennai Super Kings insulting him during the 2021 IPL season saying that he was a member of the winning team but did not get a chance to play a match in that season.

Cheteshwar Pujara said in an interview on Cricket Podcast, “It’s definitely a different side to my game. The pitches were good, a bit flat but even on that surface, you have to want to score at a high strike-rate. It’s something I’ve always worked on.”

Talking about the 2021 IPL season, he said, “I was part of CSK a year ago and when I didn’t play a match and saw people preparing, I told myself that if I want to play in the shorter format, I will always value my wickets. to give and give you a shot in the smaller format.

Grant Flower took help to change his batting strategy. He said, “I worked on it before the Royal London ODI Cup. I went to Grant Flowers and I talked to him about some shots I wanted to work on When we were training, he told me that I was following him very well and that gave me confidence. I thought if I keep working on some high shots, then I can be successful in the shorter formats as well.”

Pujara scored three centuries and a half-century in the Royal London ODI Cup with scores of 107, 174, 49*, 66 and 132. He scored 1094 runs in the County Championship Division Two. Pujara’s recent performances have also proved that his batting style has changed a lot and it won’t be a surprise if he returns to Team India in the future.
