Not only was the film nominated for an Oscar, it also won the ‘Best Film’ award at a major film festival. It’s like a dream come true. Maharshi Tuhin Kashyap… is one such name who has made a short film like ‘Moor Ghurr Durant Goti’ and this film has qualified for Oscar 2023 in ‘Short Film Fiction’ category.

This film was made as a student project

Maharshi Tuhin Kashyap is only 27 years old and he says it like a dream come true. Actually, Maharshi Tuhin Kashyap made this film as a student project of Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SFRTI). Tuhin’s film won the Best Film Award at the Bangalore International Short Film Festival (BISFF).

The story of the world’s fastest horse

The short film ‘Moor Ghurr Durant Goti’ tells the story of a man who is convinced that he has the fastest horse in the world, which is seen at every race in the city. Can be easily won. But the very strange thing is that the man does not have a horse, but he has a donkey.

Maharishi Tuhin Kashya is a resident of Guwahati.

Maharshi Tuhin Kashyap hails from Guwahati, Assam. He completed his graduation in screenwriting and directing from SRFTI, Kolkata. Tuhin wrote Boroxan-Song of Rain in 2021 and ‘Bulu Pilam’ in the same year. Apart from these two, Tuhin also made a film in 2019 on the water problem of the North-East region.

The film has Atul Pachani in the lead role

Talking about the cast of this film, Atul Pachani is playing the lead role in this film. Apart from them, the film also stars Snehankar, Abhijit Nag, Gaurav Halloi, Rahul Dhangar, Sonatan Karmakar and Ashish Chatterjee in supporting roles. Most of the crew of this film are students of SFRTI. Apart from this, another interesting thing is that most of the shooting of the film has been done in the college campus. The film has only a few scenes, which were shot on the outskirts of Kolkata.

Best Film Award at Bangalore Film Festival
